Wright's exposure to European architecture and design on his trip abroad in 1909-1910 galvanized him to make dramatic changes in his architecture. Some of his largest and most exciting projects were executed in the next decade. The Coonley Playhouse windows are widely considered the most innovative of Wright's window designs. The forty or more windows, which he called a "kinder-symphony," form a single composition, a concept unique in his work. The design of the windows incorporates images of balloons, American flags, and confetti, executed in brilliant colors including red, blue, green, yellow, and black, colors never before seen in Wright's windows.
